AN APPEAL: Dear Friends,
We are pleased to inform you that BSSK has completed 30 years of service to children and families. During this period we have been able to care for 4400 children, placed over 3000 children in adoption and assisted 12,500 children under our educational sponsorship program. This has been done collectively by Pune and the BSSK branches which are located in Aurangabad, Chiplun and Sangli.
Our centre in Aurangabad is currently not meeting all the needs of the children. We have been blessed to get a piece of land and we are in process of constructing a new residential centre for the children and for our community activities.
Our brochure giving details about the new centre is on this website. If kind persons like you can help us towards this project, we will be very grateful. Please do take time to see the brochure and donate for a noble cause. Click here to see the brochure.
With Kind Regards,
Mrs. Roxana Kalyanvala, Executive Director Ms. Maina Shetty, Assistant Director
Acting Like Responsible Citizens: BSSK initiated a project of making ‘manure from the babies diapers’ in September 2007. The project was born when disposing the diapers became a problem as the civic body asked BSSK to segregate the diapers into wet and dry waste however they do not fall in either category. Thus besides proper disposal of such a large number of diapers was even important to maintain hygiene. To make the manure the diapers are put in pits with biosanitisers and proper care is taken by covering the pits so that children stay away from them. Mrs. Jyoti Shah donated the biosanitiser and Kumar Builders built the bins for us. Some 300 kegs manure was taken from about 10,000 diapers. The manure is being used for the terrace garden of BSSK’s building. To verify the quality of the manure, sample of the manure is tested through Zuari Agricultural laboratory & the result shows that the manure is safe and will enhance the quality of soil.
Thus by acting like responsible citizens BSSK has helped PMC by disposing such garbage in a safe manner. An article about the same is published in Times of India, dated April 24, 2009.
Sangli Center Completes 10 Years: BSSK’s branch office at Sangli completed 10 successful years in 2008 and on that occasion, 250th adoption placement also took place at Sangli Center. A celebration program was organized at Sangli on January 11, 2009.
Sangli Center - Khelghar Project: On January 11, 2009, a new activity called ‘Khelghar’ has been started at Sangli Branch where various games and puzzles are introduced to enhance the learning skills of the children. The object is also to increase their observation skill and provide ample scope for their imaginative power and abstract thinking.
Aurangabad Center: One of the major and long awaited accomplishment of the year 2009 is that, a land has been allotted for BSSK’s branch at Aurangabad by CIDCO.

Fun Time and Celebrations: September 4, 2009, was indeed a splendid and magnificent day for the children at BSSK, Pune. On that day, different entertaining activities were planned and sponsored through ‘Femina’ Magazine. Children were very excited, enjoyed each activity, and relished the food that was sponsored by different groups.

Enquiries Open for Adoption: Enquiries for adoption have now re-opened since May 1, 2010. Please find the Adoption Application Form in the Downloads tab of this website. The form can be downloaded.
Adoption Under JJ Act 2000: We have the pleasure to inform you that families now have the option to adopt a child under the JJ Act 2000.
The JJ Act 2000 adoption is more complete as it gives you the legal status of parents unlike being guardians under the GAWA Act 2000. Also the child will be securing the same rights as that of a biological child. Hence we would like to inform families who have adopted under GAWA, can now apply to re-adopt under the JJ Act 2000. This can be done only if your child is still a minor. BSSK will be pleased to assist you in this endeavor.
Hence, if you are interested do contact us. We do recommend that you avail of this new development. We will inform you the process as you will need to submit the updated documents, social worker needs to get an Updated Adoption Study, you need to file the petition in the Court and for final hearing you all need to be present in the Court. This process also can take about 4 months from filing the Petition to receiving the Adoption Order. You would also need to incur some legal fees towards the same.
If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us at BSSK. It will be our pleasure to assist you.
"Masti Mela" for the kids is organized by BSSK on November 14 on the premises on the occassion of "Bal Din" every year.
Pre-Adoptive Foster Care:
In April 2007, High Court passed an Order allowing pre-adoptive foster care for domestic families residing outside Maharashtra.
For NRIs/OCIs we need to further appeal to High Court for allowing them to permit foster care out of State of Maharashtra.
