We are guilty of many
errors,
But our worst crime is
Ignoring the children,
Neglecting the fountain of life,
Many of the things we need, can wait
The CHILD cannot
To him we cannot say “Tomorrow”...
His name is “TODAY” !
The need for a child to grow, develop and educate
himself, will ensure a good life for the child, and
a better future generation for the country. This need
needs to be fulfilled today, for tomorrow maybe too
late. The sooner we recognise this, the better will
we be able to work on it and try to fulfill it.
The U.N. declarations for the Rights of the Child
guarantee “free and compulsory education for
all, without any discrimination and no hazardous employment
to any child below 14 years of age”.
But many Indian children are exposed to a life
of hardships, having to slave from day till night
to earn money, surviving on a frugal meal and not knowing
what real happiness, enjoyment, play and school means.
How can a child think of going to school, when he
knows that the family barely manages two meals a day
and won’t be able to pay for his school fees?
The refrain - “Right now the family has
some debts to clear, hence school can wait another
year” holds true for them.
This programme aims at protecting and retaining the child within the family.
Poverty often results in school dropouts leading to forced child labour and
increased crime. BSSK helps deserving and needy students pursue their education,
thus improving the child's future prospects and preventing destitution, institutionalisation & juvenile
delinquency. Sponsors either from India or abroad pay a fixed amount annually
enabling us to provide the necessary help to the sponsored children.
You can help a child with his/her schooling by generously
donating a small amount of Rs. 3000/- (for one year). This support is extremely beneficial to the child and his family. However, we do have some general needs thus kind donations for certain items would be very helpful and graciously accepted. Click on Donation Wish List option on the left to see more details about the donations in kind that are graciously and gratefully accepted.
Out of this amount, the sponsored child (and siblings) receive school uniforms, text and note books, at the beginning of the school term. Every month they are given school
stationery. We also cover any medical requirements if any (upto reasonable amounts). We run a nutritional programme and
if we find that any member of the family requires nutritional aid, we provide it in the form of milk and a
high protein mixture - called ‘Hyderabad Mix’. We have skill development activites for self employment
and personality development activities for the familiy members.
We will send you six monthly progress reports on the
child that you sponsor along with a photograph of the sposnored child. Through this programme BSSK has reached out to many needy, hard working and deserving children from the lower socio-economic strata.
We also provide Counselling services to the families of the sponsored children by our professionally
trained social workers. We have several group activities
like - Mahila Mandal (Women’s
Group), Children’s Recreational Activities,
Tailoring Classes, Balwadi, Family Health Clinic (a
doctor visits our center twice a week). Through these
group activities the families
get varied exposure and good opportunities towards
self growth and development.
