Since its inception, BSSK has provided services to needy children and families in and around Pune. These included destitute children, unwed parents and adoptive families. Over the period, BSSK found that it needed to reach out with its services to the needy persons residing in various parts of Maharashtra. Hence BSSK decided to expand its services through its branches and effectively reach out to the local communities.
Some of the adoptive families from Chiplun and Aurangabad area offered help for establishment of local offices. The first two branches were started in 1995 at Chiplun and Aurangabad. In 1997, further expansion took place at Sangli.
These branches have their own identities. They receive plenty of local support from the local communities and are proving to be very effective in catering to the needs of the local children and families.

A major part of BSSK's work is the Educational Sponsorship Programme, which focuses on preventive aspects. BSSK started helping children from poor families with their educational fees and needs, initially with 20 cases, and thereafter gradually increasing the number every year. Sponsors from various areas who were supporting the Pune educational sponsorship programme were diverted to the branches. After the work started getting appreciation from the local community, local donors came forward to help the needy children through the Educational Sponsorship Programme.
We build facilities and infrastructure in each branch that is appropriate to the needs of the local community. A need was felt to have a Child Care unit at Aurangabad and Sangli as the number of referrals for orphan and destitute children was considerably large there. A Child Care Unit was established at Aurangabad in May 1996 and in November 1998 at Sangli. The work related to child admission and unwed parents at Chiplun continues to be with the help of Pune, Sangli, and Aurangabad branches. It is now required to have a separate license for branches with the residential child care facilities. Aurangabad and Sangli branches have all required licenses for carrying out all the work related to child admission, child care and in-country adoption.
The branches have their own additional support services / activities catering to the needs of that community. People wanting to support specific activities carried out in branches may contact the respective branch.
